Telehealth Consultations
Telehealth is a convenient way to have a consultation with Kate, without travelling to our office. With the right technology, you can access healthcare from a location that suits you best, such as your home or work.
Telehealth can use telephone or video conferencing (also called video consultations). If you choose video, we will be able to see and hear each other. With telephone consultations, there will be no video, only audio.
Benefits of telehealth:
- Telehealth enables you to have an appointment with Kate even if you don’t live close to our office in Chatswood.
- Telehealth can save you time and money as you don’t have to travel to an appointment.
- During a crisis such as COVID-19 you can access healthcare without risking your safety, the safety of your family and that of your healthcare professional.
Telephone consultations:
Phone consultations are similar to a face-to-face consultation without the video.
On the day of the consultation:
- Try to be in a comfortable and quiet location with your desired level of privacy and without distractions
- If you are living with anyone, please ensure they know that you have an appointment with your dietitian and not to interrupt you during this appointment time.
- If using a mobile phone, ensure your device is charged to avoid running out of battery.
- At the time of your appointment, Kate will call you on your nominated phone number.
- The telephone consultation will go for the same allocated time as it would for an in-person consultation.
- Following the consultation, a summary of the consultation and/or any educational resources will be sent to the email address you provided us with.
Video consultations:
For video consultations, we will send you an email prior to your appointment, with a link to our secure telehealth platform. There is nothing to install or download – you simply click on the link at the time of your appointment to join the consultation. Our telehealth platform uses end-to-end encryption with peer-to-peer connections. The call does not pass through any third-party servers. It is secure and compliant with all health standards.
